THE JOURNEY

Image
Photo credits:marline Ochieng  Joining campus was a dream come true. After finalizing my form four in a beautiful school in kwale county,,,,, i dreaded to join  campus so much. I could die for it if it meant dying. Kuccps placed us and i was placed in MMUST, kakamega county. I was very much excited, little did i know what will befall me. The exact day was here and I was to Join campus. Left home early inthe morning and hit the road that lead to kakamega. My stomach was hot. I used to see girls online enjoying campus life and i knew exactly what i wanted for my campus life. So yeah, we pulled up to the gate and showed documents that justified i was trully to be admitted. We drove through the drive way and parked close to the graduation square. Moments later, i saw other freshmen as me streaming in the campus compound for admission. I was super excited.  Admission was done and i was directed to the hostels. I never wanted those inside school so we opted for those private on...

THE YOUTH AS THE BACKBONE OF THE NATION

Image
Image courtesy of Marline Chichi.   Nearly half of all people in the world today are under the age of 25. Effectively addressing the special needs of these youth is a critical challenge for the future. Youth, individuals between the ages of 15 and 24, make up over one-sixth of the world’s population, but are seldom recognized as a distinct group for the important role they will play in shaping the future. This means that the youth make up over one-sixth of the world’s population, but are seldom recognized. So, what role do youth play in the economic development of their countries? More than any other group, today’s young women and men will impact how people in rich and poor countries live in the 21st century. Unfortunately, hundreds of millions of youth—especially young women—lack education, skills and job training, employment opportunities, and health services effectively limiting their futures at a very early age. As a result, youth may react by unleashing risky or harmful b...

WHAT A WASTE!

Image
Image courtesy of Nation.    What would a pollution free world look like? This has been a question I ask myself but to no avail do I get answers. Its a sunday morning, as usual, I wake up early in order to make breakfast for my family. Today, am making beef Samosas, vegetable Samosas and spiced tea. I blanch my green peas and my carrots and potatoes follows. To cut it short, I do that so as they dont undercook or overcook, thats all for the fillings. I knead my dough, one I will use to make Mandas/pockets for my Samosas. I deep my Samosas in cooking oil and I watch them turn golden as I am in a fantasy world. Yes, this happens to me alot. Cooking is the best time i reconnect with myself and also the best time I can think critically. I know that sounds wierd but yes! Thats just me! Breakfast is ready to serve. I lay the dinning and we get set to have this delicious creation I made. After a very sweet time, I lay prostrate on my bed, breathing heavily as a result of overfeeding....

OUR GEM IS BACK HOME.

THE PORT OF MOMBASA is located on the site of one of Africa’s oldest surviving harbours and can be traced back long before the arrival of the Portuguese explorers to a time when Arabian dhows called at the Old Port on the north side of Mombasa Island. The port is equipped to handle a wide range of cargoes including dry bulk such as grain, fertilisers, cement and soda ash and liquid bulk such as crude oil and oil products. This is in addition to bagged products (coffee, tea, sugar, etc), general break-bulk (iron and steel, timber), motor vehicles, machinery – and containerised cargo. The port has a total of 19 deepwater berths. Six of these are for container ships, others include tanker berths, bulk and breakbulk cargo berths. Lighterage and Dhow berthing are also catered for. The Port of Mombasa is served by road and rail to inland destinations including the capital Nairobi, and the neighbouring states of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, the eastern DRC, and South Sudan. A new standard gauge r...

BROKEN.

Smoking and drinking while scribbling this down.i want to call it  letter of the anonymous to the anonymou s. i know she will talk of maybe me not showing it to her that whatever we had was something to last long. Or rather i was naive and she could no longer keep me. its all fucked up,and its also lost. i can never control anyone’s decision in life but just accept and brace their choices. It was very beautiful at first, very very beautiful. Never felt the way i did with this woman.i still ask myself how i fell for you.I think everything of mine revolved round you. Trust me friend, there is real love but you can never find anyone reciprocating the same love you give them. Its never 50/50 because in life there is no balance, reasons why we have social classes. I was drowned in love but i saw everything happening how it happened. i was prepared for it long ago,i can say. i was detaching slowly,by the time it was here the impact was not adverse. i know if i hadn’t,it could have taken a t...

LETS THINK OF OUR FUTURE

QUESTIONS WE SHOULD BE ASKING OUR PRESENT SELF CONCERNING OUR FUTURE SELF. Its true that our twenties do matter.why…..because we are at the peak of moulding our future. There are no possible right answers to our questions i.e Where you should live, work or settle down. No math can answer these questions, which means there are no right or wrong answers to these questions but only your answer matters. Our twenties are a great time to listen and be honest with yourself. It is also a great time to have a conversation with your future self.We tend to ignore and neglect our future self because of some sort of failure and belief or imagination. i should create a picture of how my future would look like. And this should be something i want badly for its a preparation i’m making.I should have an idea of that ideal career i want to involve myself in,that perfect house location.my ideal ride, audi Q7 to be precise. How many kids i want. The type of husband i’d like.School my kids would go to.A mort...
